The Enduring Saga of Illinook Asphalt

By stanford - Posted on 11 November 2009

When the Illinook asphalt kit was finished, I was trying to figure out the best place to put it on the Illinook module. As the tracks take up a fair proportion of the module leaving only fairly limited space for the industry, I was having a few problems working out exactly where to place the Asphalt plant on the module.

One of the more important considerations was that I didn't really want the tallest part of the kit in front of the industry spur tracks or switching lead as I could see that being a source of constant angst - the tower has a lot of fairly fragile parts and I could see those parts getting knocked and damaged if the tower was in front of the spurs and switch lead.

Last night I finally figured out a suitable place, and so now I have started to glue the various elements of the kit to the baseboard.
