Can't see the staging for the trees!

I have been adding some spruce trees to various parts of the Chatham layout today. Partly this is to flesh out the hill that covers the baseboard join. And partly to hide the end of the backscene and the staging. The Chatham layout has been a bit devoid of trees in general and I felt it was about time I remedied that.

So a trip to the hobby shop was required! And some trees and foliage were purchased. Then when I got home from work, it was a matter of poking some small holes in the plaster bandage that covers the hills, then putting a but of glue on the tree trunks and inserting them into the holes.

After a day (or less) the glue should be set.

But Illinook didn't miss out either. I purchased a HO scale second hand building from one of the second hand dealers in town and figure it can go on Illinook to hide where the track connects to the CSFT through the backscene. And a freight platform is being built to allow for a second industry on Illinook. The basic form has been constructed, and some brick paper has been added to one side, and the other side will get the same treatment in a day or so.

The hill that covers the baseboard is slowly getting covered by trees and foliage!
Some trees between the siding and the cool store / sawmill spur help to break up the scene and give a place for trains to disappear behind.

It's quite amazing the difference a few trees make!
