Rollingstock for Case Industrial, Industries chosen

The other day I stopped in at the local second hand store, which stocks quite a collection of model trains from the more modern variety to old Triang and Hornby trains and track.

I went there specifically looking for cars for Case Industrial. And 3 cars were found that were suitable - 2 box cars (an L&N and a PC), and a gondolla (PRR), all 40 scale feet long. The only work that needs to be done on them is to convert the couplers to knuckle couplers, and maybe some weathering.

I have also decided on what industries to have on the layout

  • NY Minerals - ships and receives coal, aggregate and dry cement in hopppers and gondollas.
  • East Coast Food Distribution - A warehouse that ships and receives food products in box cars and reefers.
  • Freight Transfer Track - Can receive or send any type of car, but mostly will be flatcars with machinery or containers, and box cars.
