Railroad activities

By stanford - Posted on 19 May 2009

May has been a busy month model railroad-wise.

Last Sunday the MWSL actually set up and most of the trackwork finished. The only bit of track left to do is about 1 foot to allow it to connect to my C&SFT layout. I reckon that counts as a major milestone.

So now the garage now has layout on 3 sides, the only side without layout being the actual entrance (got to get the car in somehow). I had to build 2 sets of legs for the ends of the layout, and used a foldable aluminium trestle for the centre support. I got the kids to help drilling holes, cutting wood, etc. Even our 4 year old had a go at the power drill!

I also set up the backscene to hide the 2 track staging area, and glued down one of the buildings.

I places some excess rollingstock on the layout and tried a possibilities for switching moves. Looks like it's going to be fun to operate!

The MWSL is not wired as yet, so no operation is possible. But I plan to remedy that ASAP!
