Scenery appears on MWSL, citizens amazed!

By stanford - Posted on 09 August 2009

Well, it had to happen eventually.

I have finally started the scenery on the 12 x 1 feet MWSL layout. And it seems there is a little bit of everything happening at once. Currently I have the following scenery items under construction:

  • A background mountain
  • A creek / drainage channel near the warehouse
  • A grain silos
  • A small hill in the foreground near the silos
  • Trialling some ideas for trees for the layout

And I even finished laying all the track. Haven't started the electrics yet. Possibly I will regret not doing the electrics first, but I have started the scenery in earnest now, so I will wait a while before I tackle the wiring. The wiring will be pretty simple anyway - possibly a DC power pack with the Peco turnouts doing all the power isolating - with a double pole double throw switch so I can switch between the DC power pack and the DCC system that runs my other layout. I am thinking the MWSL will probably have a move of modelled location to more the eastern US, probably as a Chessie branch line, or a shortline connecting to a Chessie mainline, and undergo a name change as well at some future time.
